- Janie

- Approval
of Minutes
- There
were no changes to the October minutes.
- Treasurers
Report
- The
balance was reported as $17,369.18.
- NTASHA
Fall Classic Horse Show
- Janie
Hamilton reported that she talked with Richard Mary with the
Dixie Jubilee, and that show is looking to change its dates.
He wouldn't know for sure until January sometime, but that would
enable NTASHA to hold the show over Halloween weekend without
conflicting with Dixie Jubilee.
- Membership
voted to have the fall show. Janie and Nancy Lassiter will ask
Las Colinas to hold both dates (Halloween and the weekend after
State Fair) for NTASHA, and let the club know if another organization
is interested in either date. NTASHA membership will evaluate
the show's fees at the January meeting.
- Banquet
- The
DJ and casino games have been reserved. There is also a block
of rooms available for $54.00 a night. An invitation will be
sent to all award winners and a separate invitation will be sent
to the remaining TASHA and NTASHA members. Both invitations will
mention the Big D Charity Auction that happens the day following
the banquet.
New
Business
- The
following members attended at least 8 of 12 meetings this year
and will be treated by NTASHA to a dinner: Mark Butschek, Barbe
Butschek, Candee Carlson, Janie Hamilton, Gail Kirkland, Nancy
Lassiter, Meg Rockman, and Jane Monsson.
- Anyone
who is interested in learning the horse show program should contact
Nancy Lassiter, Meg Rockman, Jane Monsson, and Barbe Butschek
have said they would like to be trained on it.

were one change to the October minutes: the plastic mums should

- Treasurers
Report
- The
balance was reported at $18,287.13.
- NTASHA
Fall Classic Horse Show
- Janie
Hamilton reported that neither the Waco nor the Athens facilities
have dates available for the October show. Las Colinas has the
weekend after State Fair and Halloween (Dixie Jubilee dates)
available.
- However
Las Colinas has raised it's stall prices to $40.00 (from $24.00)
and it's arena prices to $1,500.00/day for both (from $1,125.00).
These increased costs will significantly reduce the club's ability
to put on this show without losing money. Janie offered up the
following options, which the membership discussed:
- Hold
just a one-day show.
- Remove
the TWH classes and hold the show at Collin County Youth Park.
Offer Hunter, Arab, and Morgan classes.
- Janie
expressed the concern about the financial risk of going to Las
Colinas and paying those prices, as well as the problem of losing
horses on either of those dates. Ideas discussed included having
a summer show, limiting the show to ASB classes, and keeping
the show the same but raising fees. After lengthy discussion
membership decided to reserve Las Colinas and raise fees for
the 2005 show, but continue to evaluate the future of this show.
- Banquet
- Sandee
Razminas reported the date is February 12 for the banquet. Teri
Dolan offered at $38.00 per person rate at the Marriott Quorum
for either New York Strip or Mandarin Chicken. Sandee is checking
on Vegetarian and Kids' meals. Membership voted to charge $40.00
per person for meals and $20.00 for Kids' meals. There will be
a cash bar, a DJ, and casino tables.

- NTASHA
Fall Classic Horse Show
- Janie
Hamilton said she got a thank you note from both judges, which
is a first for this show. They were very complimentary.
- Sandee
Razminas reported that the show netted approximately $3,521.22,
which is less than last year but not surprising. We had $5,875.00
in sponsorship funds this year.
- Janie
mentioned that we had about 40 less horses this year because
of the date conflict with the St. Louis show. Those who didn't
attend included Patty Milligan, Debbie Grave's barn, and Mike
Civils. Jane Monsson (Paddock Master) reported that she heard
no complaints from any exhibitors.
- Sandee
raised concerns about Center Ring decorations. She suggested
that buying live mums is expensive and doesn't guarantee nice-looking
flowers. The club discussed buying plastic mums, and decided
that the expense every few years would outweigh the risk and
expense of buying fresh flowers every year. Sandee said she would
take care of buying the plastic mums.
- Janie
informed the club that getting a date for next year's show is
already an issue. Las Colinas is already booked the first weekend
in October. The only dates Las Colinas has available are Halloween
weekend (which is on top of Dixie Jubilee which TWH attend) and
the weekend right after State Fair. Nancy Lassiter added that
the Glen Rose facility NTASHA used in 2003 was just too dangerous
for ASB horses, with electrical wires in reach and some stalls
without water or light. Sandee also added the distance and added
cost of Glen Rose made it harder to support a show there. Janie
said she would look into the Waco facility, which is apparently
very nice. Nancy said that the TWH folks would be OK with the
NTASHA show following right after State Fair. Nancy and Janie
will do some more research, and a decision will be made at the
next meeting.
- Meg
Rockman brought up several concerns about the horse show office
and the computer. She suggested that there be at least two additional
people trained on the show computer program in case Nancy or
Janie are not able to attend the show. Nancy agreed to have a
training session at her house at a future date for any member
who wants to learn the program. Meg also expressed serious concerns
about the fact the horse show program is a DOS-run program, on
a borrowed laptop that is fairly old. Meg suggested that the
club look into acquiring a Windows' based program and a late-model
laptop, so that the club might avoid inevitable future computer
problems, and also avoid the risk of borrowing a computer. Barbe
Butschek added that she understands Microsoft will no longer
support any computers with less than XP. She mentioned that she
will look into helping NTASHA acquire a gently-used laptop. Meg
presented several software options that she found on the Internet,
and Janie looked over them. After long discussion this subject
was tabled for future meetings.

Banquet
- Janie
Hamilton said the TASHA show is February 5-6, 2005. The date
will be coordinated with the Big D Charity Auction this year.
She formed a committee made up of Meg Rockman, Sandee Razminas,
and Jane Monsson to handle arranging the banquet. In 2003, NTASHA
spent $7,538.00 on this banquet. Membership wants to keep the
casino tables and DJ. The committee will report at the next meeting.

- Service
Awards
- Service
awards will be handed out during the May meeting--don't miss
it! Membership discussed the low meeting attendance and had a
discussion about changing service awards for 2004. Those present
voted to simplify the system by not keeping track of hours any
longer, just meeting attendance. Service awards now consist of
meeting attendance only. NTASHA will sponsor a nice group dinner
for those individuals who attend 8 out of 12 meetings in 2004.
The Secretary will track meeting attendance.

ring setup/tear down, and ribbon/trophy volunteers)
- Center
Ring--Sandee Razminas (consists of center ring refreshments,
purchasing/managing trophies and ribbons, and prize money)
- Membership
voted to hire a DJ instead of an organist, so Janie will call
Jamie Harris. Membership also asked Janie to contact the same
photographer as last year (John Braham).
- Nancy
Llassiter reminded everyone that NTASHA will not be sponsoring
hotel rooms for volunteers this year since the show is at Las
Colinas and close enough for everyone to drive in each morning.
- There
was concern about the location for the 2005 Fall Classic and
Janie will call Heart of Texas in Waco to get available dates.

- NTASHA
Fall Classic Horse Show
- The
NTASHA show dates are October 2-3, 2004. However the St. Louis
show has moved to those dates. October 16-17 is the only other
date that might work, but Janie cannot find a facility open.
And, the TWH group prefers October 2-3. After much discussion
regarding pluses and minuses of moving the show or not having
it, membership voted to keep the show on October 2-3 at Las Colinas.
Membership also discussed opening the show to other riders, such
as hunt seat, in order to maximize a difficult situation.
- Miscellaneous

that NTASHA is hosting the banquet this year, in February 2005.
